We haven’t had a proper Aviation Workshop Evening since July-
August brought a licensing update from CASA prior to part 61’s implementation
and September held the Annual General Meeting of members.
So unfortunately the AWE’s have been put on the back burner and their departures from regular club proceedings have been rather disappointing to the committed aviators who regularly enjoy these diverse and engaging presentations.
Well- not to fear, because we’re back with October’s Workshop promising to deliver the content we’ve grown to love from these regular meetings.
We’ve secured Managing Director, John Fraser of Jandakot Airport Holdings to present the updated master plan of Jandakot Airport. We had a visit from Mr Fraser exactly one year ago- at the October 2013 Aviation Workshop; a presentation that was particularly well received. Now that The Preliminary Draft Master Plan (PDMP) is now available on The Jandakot Airport website (http://www.jandakotairport.com.au/corporate/notice-board/61-noticeboard_7.html) we’ll have the chance to review the updates and of course provide JAH with feedback on what matters to you; our member (PDMP is open for public comment until November 15).
Also to present on the night will be Ruben Philipse; a graduate of the WA Aviation College (2010) and current survey pilot and project manager at Whelans- Aerodata. Ruben will be giving a presentation on the current state of art aerial survey cameras. These cameras can undertake thermal imaging and laser scanning and have a four terabyte capacity. Each photograph taken from these cameras can be up to 1 gigabyte.
Just slightly more advanced than the Instagram photos you’re taking with your iPhones.
Make note that October’s Aviation Workshop Evening will be held on Wednesday October 22; we look forward to seeing you from 6pm.
