This Saturday we celebrated in true Royal Aero Club style.
The Club is notorious for not doing anything by halves and Saturday night was evidence of this.
The evening saw 220 people cram into the members lounge for a reunion and night of reflection of what the club has achieved since our move to Jandakot in 1965.
Five presidents, 9 CFIs and 8 life members were amongst those who attended the night. With presentations from David Currey, John Douglas, Brian Hernan, Mary Earnshaw, Roger Weeks and Andrew Eldridge who each captured our hearts as we reminisced on the club’s contribution to aviation past, present and future.
The death defying display by the Red Barrows was a major highlight of the night and the overall consensus was not only of renowned positivity but of pure club spirit; seeing the people we haven’t spoken to in donkey’s years but (with the aid of name tags, which proved exceptionally popular), were able to continue the conversation like old friends.
Thank you to all who attended.
And considerable recognition for those who contributed tirelessly to the success of the evening:
The exceptional planning committee of Linda Maule, John Douglas, Coril Bere and David Currey.
Brian Hernan, Mary Earnshaw, Roger Weeks, John Douglas and Andrew Eldridge who gave us insightful accounts of the club’s history and our direction for the future.
And of course, those who worked throughout the course of the evening; John Ridgeway, Ann Garrett, Donna Ford, Charlotte Mallen, David Currey, Shaun Williams, Maxim Kuminov, Ian Loveday, Sabrina McLaughlin, Carrie Munro and Byron Page.
It just couldn’t have been made possible without each and every one of you.
Thank you for being a part of it.
